Timbuktu is a totally original and vibrant perfume, inspired by a journey to Mali in West Africa by perfumer Betrand Duchaufour. A study of contrasts in its exotic African roots and innate French sophistication, Timbuktu takes inspiration from the fragrance ritual Wusulan used by generations of Malian women to scent their hair and skin. Potent blends of flower roots, balms and spices are thought to bring love and sensuality into the lives of these heavenly scented women. This takes perfumery back to its roots as the word perfume translates literally as per fumum or through smoke, offering up combinations of scented balms and resins to the gods above. Timbuktu has piquant notes of green mango and creamy karo-karoundé flower to balance the pink pepper, cardamom, and vetiver. Cloaked in smoke from papyrus wood, incense and patchouli, this sensual and airy scent is beautifully ancient yet profoundly modern.

Bois Farine was created by renowned perfumer, Jean-Claude Ellena. This compulsive fragrance is the product of his encounter with a unique tree in the Reunion Islands in the Indian Ocean, a rare and now protected species, reputed to have magical powers. This tree is specific to the Reunion Islands and its red flower smells like baking flour. Ellena was struck by how similar the smell was to the scent of his grandmother’s hands as she baked bread in the kitchen. Bois Farine is the result: an extraordinary union between enchanted wood and the comforting aromas of baking ingredients. Vibrant from the outset, a bolt of energy infects us with the beat of frenetic samba rhythms. A burst of lime, cachaça and fresh mint then appears, intoxicating our senses, much like Brazil’s signature cocktail, the Caïpirinha. Exotic scents come into their own as the middle notes of the fragrance reveal Tiaré and ylang ylang flowers, recalling the heady perfume of sun cream. A sea salt note, so reminiscent of holidays, purifies the senses with its delicate fragrance, as if we were on the famous Ipanema beach. Finally, a skin accord comes through to the fore, just like the seductive scent of the samba dancers’ skin, emanating a powerful and addictive sensuality.
