meet the perfumer
How did you start your career? And where?
I studied perfumery at ISIPCA, the perfumery school located in Versailles, France and was trained by Firmenich during the internship program. They hired me at the end of my studies, first as a perfumer trainee for Body and Home care in Geneva and then in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. I learned a lot from different Perfumers about the technical side of my craft as well as the raw materials before I joined the Fine Fragrance team in Paris.
Can you tell us about your love story with L'Artisan Parfumeur?
Deeply rooted in the perfumery tradition from Grasse, l'Artisan Parfumeur sublimates the most exquisite natural raw materials highlighting the enchanting beauty of nature. This authentic brand has kept the same values of refined craftsmanship since the creation of the house: inspired by the olfactive and visual splendor that nature offers.
At the start of this new adventure, I fell in love with the story imagined by the team. I could feel the excitement of writing the next beautiful scenes of the brand heritage.
How can you describe Natura Fabularis collection?
The Natura Fabularis collection opens a new olfactory chapter for L'Artisan Parfumeur exploring the vast idyllic garden that is Nature with free imagination. I created six interpretations of fantasized nature, like imaginary journeys, they are composed of unexpected combinations. As a result the twilight atmosphere of the six olfactory dreams transform into evocations that are all real on skin.
Why each bottle has a number?
The digit number on each bottle corresponds to the amount of trials that were required before setting on the final fragrance.
What made l'Artisan Parfumeur Fragrances so unique today?
For me, L'Artisan Parfumeur is an authentic Perfumer's story. Initiated in 1976 by Jean Laporte, its beautiful heritage mixes artisanal experience together with the most exquisite caliber of natural ingredients.
Your ultimate ingredient?
This is a tough question for me as I love many ingredients. The ultimate depends on my inspiration, on the season, on my mood…. Right now I feel like I am moved by vetiver.
Which perfume do you wear?
I have been wearing only trials from my projects since I became a Perfumer. Sometimes I also wear some refreshing colognes. Most of the time I prefer not to wear fragrances to better appreciate the scents around me.
Your first olfactive memory?
My most intense memories from childhood are of my Mother fragrances. I can also remember the orange flower floating in the atmosphere or incorporated in traditional pastry when I was leaving in Alger as a young little girl.
Another one should be a sweet smell from the kitchen such as caramelized apple of a Tatin pie.
Do you have a muse?
I may consider the Brand, the project as my muse.
What is the best part of your job?
I cherish the very first step of the creation process. I feel so excited I cannot wait to smell the very first trial that embodies what I imagined. What is the concrete smell of the first idea that came to my mind?
Then at the end of the project, discovering my fragrance in the final market bottle is very rewarding.
