Incense is one of mankind's oldest natural fragrances. The frankincense tree grows in an arid environment a thousand metres above sea level in the Horn of Africa. It is by incising the tree that its resin is made to weep. Once distilled, it gives off an aromatic, peppery, camphorated and smoky scent.
