Tuberose

Polianthes Tuberosa

Floral/Fresh/Delicate

Native to Mexico, this opalescent white star-shaped flower has found its paradise in southern India. In Hindi, its name means “perfume of the night”. This is because tuberose, with its creamy, honeyed and medicinal notes, is very carnal, poisonous, heady, narcotic, even animalic, to the point of symbolising the femme fatale for the poet.
